Drones: Confined-space Visual & Thickness Inspection

Use drones for visual inspection inside tanks, cargo holds, and plant equipment, with ultrasonic thickness measurement at selected points. Replace part of scaffold- and lift-based inspection while inspecting from outside the asset.

Core functions
  • Assisted flight and illuminated imaging inside GNSS-denied confined spaces
  • Contact measurements on steel with a dedicated UT probe and couplant
  • Record images, measurement locations, and thickness readings for inspection reporting
Customer value
  • Reduce time spent inside assets and the need for scaffolding at height
  • Collect images and thickness data from confined or elevated areas to inform repair and further inspection
Check before deploying
  • Access opening, internal geometry, deposits, surface condition, and achievable probe contact
  • Gas-free status, ventilation, residue, explosion-protection requirements, tether snagging, and recovery procedures
  • Acceptance for class or statutory surveys depends on the method, personnel, approval scope, and site conditions, not only the drone

Selected Robots

Hand-picked for this work, with the reason each one fits. "PoC" marks robots to validate in a limited trial first.

PoC

UT drone inspection service with a manufacturer-reported bulk-carrier hold inspection. Treat this as a service rather than standalone hardware sales, and confirm assets, measurement points, and approval scope.

Scout 137 Gen 3

テザー給電とSLAMで狭所を飛行し、目視・オプションの板厚計測を行う点検ドローン

PoC

Current tether-powered, SLAM-assisted confined-space drone. Thickness measurement requires the optional UTM payload. This generation differs from the Scout 137 used in the 2020 example; validate suitability for each site.
