In-factory Inter-process Transport

Move parts and work-in-progress from process to process, right to the line side, eliminating hand-cart "linking" work.

Core functions
  • Driving under carts or racks and lifting them
  • Line-side transfer with roller or lift tops
  • Call and dispatch from production-management systems
Customer value
  • Prevents line stops caused by waiting for materials
  • Moves transport staff to machining and assembly
  • Stable just-in-time supply reduces line-side stock
Check before deploying
  • Standardizing carts and racks, and the transfer method
  • Floor steps and slopes, and clean-room requirements

Selected Robots

OMRON's Ayabe plant automates moving finished goods and mask magazines with AMRs

Challenge

Finished goods go to shipping and mask magazines to the SMT line, both moved between processes.

Deployment

Nine AMRs plant-wide: three for shipping and one for mask magazines. Linked to MES, the nearest free AMR is dispatched.

Outcome

MES and AMRs handle dispatching from request to pickup automatically.

ROHM's Hamamatsu fab automates wafer-box transport with AMRs and cobots

Challenge

Boxes of 25 wafers were carried by cart between buildings and to upper floors.

Deployment

AMRs and three cobots automate the handoff through inter-building pass boxes and upper-floor sliders (front end).

Outcome

Lead time cut from 60 to 42 days.

German bakery Görtz robotizes unloading frozen trays and stacking them onto racks

Challenge

Trays loaded with dough must be unloaded from the freezer and stacked onto rack trolleys.

Deployment

Four GP180 FGG robots with layer grippers unload up to six trays at a time onto racks; running since November 2024.

Outcome

Handles 1,000 trays an hour per freezer.
